Chopping wood: Ticats re-sign Canadian OL Coulter Woodmansey, one other

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have re-signed Canadian offensive lineman Coulter Woodmansey.

The six-foot-five, 310-pound blocker has suited up in 41 games over three seasons in Hamilton, including 39 starts. Woodmansey started 17 games at right guard in 2023, helping pave the way for 1,000-yard rusher James Butler.

The native of Toronto was originally selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 CFL Draft out of the University of Guelph. He made 28 starts in 32 career appearances for the Gryphons.

Also re-signed by the Ticats on Friday was American defensive end Cedric Wilcots II.

The 26-year-old was acquired by the Ticats via trade for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers mid-way through the 2022 season and has since played a depth role, suiting up for one contest in 2023. In 15 career CFL games between the two clubs, the six-foot-three, 249-pound pass rusher has four tackles and a sack.

Wilcots played 35 games over three collegiate seasons at New Mexico State, registering 94 total tackles, 18.5 quarterback sacks, four passes defended and four forced fumbles.

The Ticats will open the 2024 season on Friday, June 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET when they visit the Calgary Stampeders.
