Montreal Alouettes re-sign East Division all-star DL Mustafa Johnson through 2025

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive tackle Mustafa Johnson to a two-year contract extension, tying him to the franchise through 2025.

The six-foot-two, 290-pound defender was named an East Division all-star this past season after recording 43 defensive tackles, seven sacks, one fumble recovery, and one touchdown over 18 games. In 2022, he made 18 defensive tackles and two sacks as a CFL rookie.

“I am glad to be back with the Alouettes. I feel like Montreal is my home and I appreciate the confidence that the team puts in me,” said Johnson in a statement. “I look forward to working with the team to win another championship. There is a lot of talent in this locker room.”

The 24-year-old played collegiately at Modesto Junior College and the University of Colorado Boulder.

Montreal has been hard at work re-signing key contributors from their Grey Cup run last month, recently finalizing new deals with quarterback Cody Fajardo, defensive end Shawn Lemon, and linebacker Darnell Sankey.
