The Vanier Cup will be hosted in a new location in 2025 as the University of Regina was announced as the host for Canada’s university football championship game on Saturday.
“We are honoured and incredibly excited that the University of Regina has been selected to host the 2025 Vanier Cup in Saskatchewan,” said Dr. Jeff Keshen, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Regina.
The game will be held at Mosaic Stadium, home to the Regina Rams as well as the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Mosaic Stadium also hosted the Grey Cup in 2022.
This marks just the third time that the Vanier Cup will be played outside of Ontario or Quebec and the first since the 2011 edition was played at B.C. Place in Vancouver.
The province of Saskatchewan hosted once previously when the game was played in Saskatoon in 2006.
The following year’s Vanier Cup will take place in a more familiar location as the Université Laval was named host for the 2026 Vanier Cup.
Quebec City has played host to the Vanier Cup six times, most recently in 2021.
This 2023 Vanier Cup will take place later this afternoon when the Montreal Carabins play the UBC Thunderbirds at Richardson Memorial Stadium in Kingston, Ontario. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. EST.
Next year’s game will also take place in Kingston.
