Power out: veteran Stampeders’ FB Charlie Power retires

Veteran fullback Charlie Power has announced his retirement from professional football after 10 seasons with the Calgary Stampeders.

The 32-year-old played all 18 games in his final CFL campaign, registering 14 special teams tackles. It marked his sixth season of double-digit special teams tackles, a streak that was only interrupted by a torn Achilles that cost him the entire 2021 season.

Originally selected with the 28th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2013 CFL Draft, Power suited up in 118 career regular-season CFL games, recording 94 special teams tackles, three forced fumbles, three blocked punts, seven receptions for 37 yards, and one carry for three yards.

The native of Okotoks, Alta. attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he was converted from linebacker to slotback in his fourth year.
