The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back Abu Daramy-Swaray following his release from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The five-foot-nine, 176-pound cover man started five games for the Blue Bombers earlier this season while Winston Rose was injured and recorded 23 defensive tackles and one forced fumble. He was moved to the practice roster during the summertime and cut by the club this past week.

The 27-year-old made 155 tackles, 25 pass knockdowns, five interceptions, and one sack over 44 collegiate games at Colgate University. He also recorded 1,642 all-purpose yards as a returner and part-time offensive gadget player.

The native of Columbus, Ohio signed with the Potsdam Royals of the German Football League after college and became the rare player to earn an NFL contract straight out of Europe, attending training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. He has also spent time with the XFL’s Arlington Renegades.

The Riders (6-10) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (4-11) on Friday, Oct. 13 with kickoff slated for 9:30 p.m. EDT.
