B.C. Lions’ quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. has been named the CFL’s top performer for Week 17 by Pro Football Focus (PFF).
The 30-year-old passer earned a grade of 91.2 after completing 27-of-36 pass attempts for a season-high 458 yards and three touchdowns. It was his second time he threw for over 450 yards in a game this season and marked his sixth 300-yard game in his last seven outings. This is the second time this season that Adams has been recognized by PFF.
Calgary Stampeders’ linebacker Cameron Judge was the highest-graded defensive player of the week, earning a grade of 85.5. The veteran played 49 defensive snaps and made four defensive tackles and one interception in his team’s 22-15 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. This was his second recognition from PFF this season.
The B.C. Lions had the highest-graded offensive line of the week, earning a grade of 80.8. Left tackle Jarell Broxton received the highest individual grade at 63.0, while centre Michael Couture earned a 60.3 and right guard Andrew Peirson earned a 59.1.
The CFL partnered with PFF for the first time ahead of the 2023 season. The American company uses game footage to review every player on the field and grades their individual performances on a scale from zero to 100.
The league unveils the top-graded players from PFF each week. Offensive and defensive players must play a minimum of 25 snaps to be eligible and special teams players must play at least 10. Ties are broken by the number of snaps played.
