The New York Jets have waived veteran linebacker Samuel Eguavoen, according to The Athletic reporter Zack Rosenblatt.
Eguavoen signed with the team earlier this month following a four-year stint with the Miami Dolphins. He appeared in 66 games with the team and made seven starts, recording 71 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one defensive touchdown.
The Texas Tech University product originally went unselected in the 2015 NFL Draft and signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders the following year. He became a household name over three seasons in Regina, recording 173 total tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception in 38 CFL games.

The 30-year-old has earned more than $3.9 million over the course of his NFL career.
NFL rosters must be cut down to 53 players on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The Jets will open their 2023 season on Monday, Sept. 11 against the Buffalo Bills.
