Hamilton Tiger-Cats welcome back DL Dylan Wynn ahead of game vs. Edmonton Elks

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will welcome Dylan Wynn back into the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Edmonton Elks.

The veteran defensive tackle suffered a season-ending knee injury last year and has yet to dress for a game since. The three-time East Division all-star has dressed for 68 career CFL games and recorded 170 defensive tackles and 27 sacks, winning a Grey Cup as a member of the Toronto Argonauts in 2017.

Hamilton is also getting receiver Anthony Johnson back from a hamstring injury and he will start at boundary wideout, replacing Terry Godwin II, who has been placed on the one-game injured list with illness.

Canadian offensive lineman Kyle Saxelid is returning from a knee injury, while veteran offensive tackle Chris Van Zeyl has been moved to the six-game injured list with an arm issue. Winnipeg native Mason Bennett will return at defensive end after recovering from a hamstring injury, while defensive tackle Mohamed Diallo has been placed on the six-game injured list with a knee injury.

Taylor Powell will make his second consecutive start at quarterback with Kai Locksley as his primary backup. Rookie quarterback Mike Glass III will dress as the team’s third-string passer after he signed with the team this week to replace Antonio Pipkin, who was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Kaare Vedvik, who was acquired in the trade from Saskatchewan, will punt for the team as Bailey Flint is on the suspended list.

The Ticats (3-5) are scheduled to host the Edmonton Elks (0-9) on Thursday, Aug. 17 with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT. The clubs met at Commonwealth Stadium in Week 6 with Hamilton earning a 37-29 victory.
