The Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ trade of Ja’Gared Davis to the Calgary Stampeders has been voided after the veteran defensive end failed to pass his required physical examination upon arrival in Calgary.

Davis will now return to the Ticats and the Stampeders will retain their sixth-round pick in the 2024 CFL Draft, which was the initial compensation for the move executed on Tuesday, July 25.

The 32-year-old signed with the Ticats as a free agent this past off-season after a one-year stint with the Toronto Argonauts. He recorded seven defensive tackles over Hamilton’s first five games of the year but was a healthy scratch in Week 7.

The SMU product got a $15,000 signing bonus to rejoin the Ticats in February and is due $132,500 in hard money with a maximum value of $173,000 in 2023. He also received a $5,000 bonus for reporting to training camp in Steeltown and passing his physical.

The Tiger-Cats (2-4) are scheduled to visit the Ottawa Redblacks (3-3) on Friday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
