The Ottawa Redblacks have officially ruled out quarterback Jeremiah Masoli for the rest of the 2023 season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
The veteran passer suffered a non-contact injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s 21-13 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Masoli was seen wearing a boot and using crutches after receiving attention from team trainers.
The 34-year-old completed six-of-ten pass attempts for 37 yards and one interception against Hamilton in his first action since suffering a season-ending leg injury last summer. The contest marked Masoli’s first game against the Ticats since he left the organization following the 2021 season.
The Oregon product has thrown for 16,219 yards, 79 touchdowns, and 51 interceptions over 77 career CFL games. He has also carried the ball 234 times for 1,408 yards and 18 touchdowns.
