The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed Global defensive lineman Valentin Gnahoua. He was most recently a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, though he was released during training camp.
The six-foot-two, 235-pound defender spent three seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after being selected with the first overall pick of the 2019 CFL European Draft. The 28-year-old has recorded one defensive tackle, 11 special teams tackles, one forced fumble, and one blocked punt in 38 career CFL games.
The native of Le Mans, France began playing football for the Caimans du Mans at the age of 16, making the jump to North America in 2016 to play at McGill University. He registered 24 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack and a fumble recovery in nine games during his lone U Sports season.
Gnahoua returned to Europe in 2017 and began his professional career with the Berlin Rebels of the German Football League. In 13 games over two seasons, he logged 47 tackles and nine sacks.
The Ticats (1-3) are scheduled to visit the Edmonton Elks (0-5) on Thursday, July 13 with kickoff slated for 9:00 p.m. EDT.
