B.C. Lions’ receiver Lucky Whitehead ruled out vs. Argonauts

Published on

The B.C. Lions will be without veteran receiver Lucky Whitehead when they take on the Toronto Argonauts on Monday.

The 31-year-old has been unable to practice this week due to a hamstring injury originally suffered in Week 1. Whitehead missed the Lions’ Week 2 game with the same ailment but played in last week’s upset victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, catching five passes for 72 yards. However, the performance came at the cost of a setback.

The Lions are expected to welcome thousand-yard receivers Keon Hatcher and Dominique Rhymes back to the lineup in Week 4, but have yet to have a full complement of healthy receivers on the field this season.

Whitehead has played 44 career games with the Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, notching 198 receptions for 2,564 yards and nine touchdowns. He was named a CFL all-star in 2021, his first thousand-yard season.

The Lions (3-0) are scheduled to visit the Argonauts (2-0) on Monday, July 3, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
