The Ottawa Redblacks have released eight players, including quarterback Charlie Brewer.

The six-foot-one, 210-pound passer started his collegiate career at Baylor University and won the starting job as a true freshman. He shared Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year honours that year with future first-round NFL draft pick Jalen Reagor and finished his tenure with the Bears with 9,700 passing yards, 65 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions along with 1,039 rushing yards and 22 touchdown.

Brewer transferred to the University of Utah in 2021 and started the first three games of the season, throwing for 484 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions before being benched. He transferred to Liberty University in 2022 but broke his hand in the first quarter of the team’s season-opener, finishing the year with just 52 passing yards and an interception.
