Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Global draft pick LB Lukas Ruoss

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed linebacker Lukas Ruoss.

The six-foot-two, 230-pound defender spent this past season with the Reign Fire of the European League of Football (ELF) and made 62 tackles, six tackles for loss, and three interceptions over 12 games.

Ruoss attended the NFL International Combine in London in 2021, though the results of prospect testing drills weren’t made public.

The native of Bern, Switzerland played the 2021 season in the German Football League and recorded 42 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, one pass knockdown, and one blocked kick in eight games.

Ruoss played in 13 games over two seasons Bemidji State in 2018 and 2019. He made 64 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery, and two pass knockdowns. He previously played at West Hills College, American River College, and as a member of the Swiss National Team.
