The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive back Marcus Lewis.

The six-foot-one, 197-pound defender played four games with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021 and made nine total tackles. He signed with the Elks last off-season but was released prior to training camp.

The native of Washington, D.C. played six games as a member of the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars last season and recorded 16 total tackles.

Lewis started his college career at Florida State before playing his final two seasons at the University of Maryland (2018-19). He made 44 total tackles, two interceptions, six pass knockdowns, and one fumble recovery over 15 games for the Terrapins.

The Elks have also released quarterback Felix Harper after signing him two months ago.

The five-foot-ten, 180-pound passer completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 5,619 yards, 55 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions over four seasons at Alcorn State. He also rushed 173 times for 396 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He went unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft and signed with the Cleveland Browns in May following a strong performance in rookie minicamp. He was waived by the team two weeks later. He also had a stint with the Montreal Alouettes this past season, though he didn’t dress for any regular season games.
