The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive back Coney Durr, the club announced on Monday.

The five-foot-ten, 193-pound defender made 144 tackles and four interceptions over five seasons at the University of Minnesota where he played alongside Montreal native and current Washington Commanders’ defensive back Benjamin St-Juste.

Durr also recorded 30 knockdowns with the Golden Gophers, which is tied for fourth all-time in the school’s record book.

The native of Baton Rouge, La. was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2019 and 2020 and took part in the Hula Bowl in 2022. He was invited to rookie minicamp with the Chicago Bears after going unselected in the 2022 NFL Draft but was not signed by the team.

The 25-year-old was granted a redshirt as a sophomore in 2017 as he spent most of the season recovering from a torn ACL.
