B.C. Lions release American running back Bruce Anderson III

The B.C. Lions have released American running back Bruce Anderson III.

The 25-year-old ball carrier finished the 2022 season on the club’s practice roster but was re-signed following the season.

Anderson played in six games during his first season with the Lions, making one start against Calgary in Week 10. He rushed for 67 yards on 19 carries while hauling in eight receptions for 60 yards.

The Florida native previously spent time with the Edmonton Elks, notching 170 yards on seven punt returns during three games played in 2021.

Anderson played four collegiate seasons at North Dakota State, helping them win three FCS national championships. He rushed for 2,896 yards and 24 touchdowns on 486 total carries while adding 32 receptions for 448 yards and seven majors. The versatile ball carrier also led the team in kickoff return yards in two of his seasons and was twice named an FCS All-American.
