Montreal Alouettes re-sign Tyrice Beverette following breakout season

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American linebacker Tyrice Beverette to a contract extension, the club announced on Wednesday. He was set to become a free agent next month.

The six-foot, 203-pound defender made 56 defensive tackles, 21 special teams tackles, four knockdowns, three fumble recoveries, one interception, and one forced fumble over 18 games in 2022. He started 14 games for the Alouettes, including 11 at weak-side linebacker, two at strong-side linebacker, and one at safety.

“Tyrice gave us a spark in his first year with the Alouettes on and off the field,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “With one more year of experience on our team, we expect even greater things from him in 2023.”

The native of Lakewood, N.J. played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2019 and 2021 primarily in a depth role. In 40 career games in the CFL, 27-year-old have made 72 defensive tackles, 48 special teams tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and one sack.
