Saskatchewan Roughriders sign defensive back Rodney Clemons

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back Rodney Clemons, the team announced on Monday.

The six-foot, 205-pound cover man signed with the Kansas City Chiefs after going unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent a portion of his rookie season on the practice squad before joining the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and spending time as a member of their practice squad.

The native of Katy, Texas played five collegiate seasons at Southern Methodist University from 2015 to 2019 and recorded 275 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, seven interceptions, 34 pass knockdowns, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks over 54 games. He was named second-team All-ACC as a senior.

Clemons participated in the 2020 NFL Combine where he recorded a 4.71-second forty-yard dash, 33.5-inch vertical jump, 118-inch broad jump, and 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.
