Saskatchewan Roughriders re-sign veteran defensive back Nick Marshall

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive back Nick Marshall to a one-year contract extension. He was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

The six-foot-one, 207-pound cover man started 16 games at boundary cornerback this past season, recording 24 tackles, five knockdowns, and four interceptions.

The 30-year-old has dressed for 60 games with the team since joining them as a free agent in 2018, making 119 tackles, 15 interceptions, and one forced fumble. He was named a West Division all-star in 2021.

Marshall was a college quarterback who helped lead Auburn to the BCS National Championship Game in 2014. He converted to defensive back in order to pursue the NFL and was successful in doing so, dressing for 21 games as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets over the 2015 and 2016 seasons, recording two tackles and one knockdown.
