The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian long snapper Mike Benson to a two-year contract extension, the team announced on Thursday. He was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

The five-foot-eleven, 220-pounder has spent the past two seasons with Winnipeg, dressing for 32 regular season games. He was the club’s long snapper for all 18 regular season games in 2022 as well as the West Final and Grey Cup in Regina.

The Acadia University product first joined the Blue Bombers in February 2021 as a free agent. He had previously been a member of the Edmonton Elks, B.C. Lions, Ottawa Redblacks, and Montreal Alouettes, dressing for 89 games before signing with his hometown team.
