Winnipeg Blue Bombers re-sign Canadian defensive tackle Jake Thomas

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed Canadian defensive tackle Jake Thomas to a one-year contract extension, the team announced on Monday. He was scheduled to become a free agent in February.

The six-foot-two, 274-pound defender has spent ten seasons as a member of the club since being drafted in the fourth round, 29th overall, in the 2012 CFL Draft out of Acadia University. He is the longest-serving member of the team.

The native of Douglas, N.B. has played 169 regular season games with Winnipeg, recording 144 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, 26 sacks, four forced fumbles, and an interception. He started all 18 regular season games for the club this past season and made 15 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, four sacks, and one forced fumble.

Thomas is the latest in a number of re-signings for the club, including Willie Jefferson, Adam Bighill, Patrick Neufeld, and Demond Lawrence.
