Saskatchewan, Montreal fall in U Sports football top ten rankings following rare losses

The Saskatchewan Huskies and Montreal Carabins have fallen down the U Sports football top ten rankings after suffering losses this past weekend.

The Huskies fell from No. 2 to No. 4 following a 35-29 loss to the UBC Thunderbirds, a game in which they fielded a veteran lineup despite having already clinched first place in Canada West. The previously undefeated squad got a 400-yard game from quarterback Mason Nyhus, though a late potential game-tying drive stalled at UBC’s 17-yard line. This marks the first time that Saskatchewan has not been in the top three all season long.

The Carabins outgained the Sherbrooke Vert Or by over 200 yards this past weekend but lost the turnover battle 5-0 to fall by a score of 12-5. Montreal has now lost back-to-back regular season games for the first time since October 2019, falling from No. 5 to No. 10 in the top ten rankings.
