Caleb Evans will start at quarterback for the Ottawa Redblacks in their upcoming regular season finale, according to Postmedia’s Tim Baines.

Caleb Evans will be starting QB for the #Redblacks Saturday vs. #Ticats. Sounds like Tyrie Adams could see some action.

The 24-year-old started five games for the club earlier this season and posted a 1-4 record in those contests. He has completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 1,191 yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions on the year and carried the ball 81 times for 331 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Evans broke into the CFL with Ottawa in 2021 and completed 59.3 percent of his passes for 1,279 yards, five touchdowns, and nine interceptions as a rookie. He also ran the ball 42 times for 345 yards and three touchdowns.

Nick Arbuckle has started the club’s last eight games, leading the club to a 3-5 record. He has completed 70.5 percent of his passes for 2,400 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions since being acquired via trade from the Edmonton Elks in July.

The Redblacks (4-13) were eliminated from postseason contention in a 30-27 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (7-10) this past week. The two clubs are scheduled to meet again on Saturday, Oct. 29 at TD Place Stadium with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Ottawa is currently 0-8 at home, which means this will be their final chance to earn a victory at home this season.
