The Montreal Alouettes have signed American defensive back Ranthony Texada, after he was released by the Ottawa Redblacks earlier this month.

The five-foot-ten, 185-pound cover man started seven games for Ottawa this season, six at field-side halfback and one at boundary cornerback. He made 13 defensive tackles and one interception.

Texada first joined the team’s practice roster in August 2021 before being promoted to the active roster in October, recording 11 defensive tackles over three starts at field-side cornerback.

The Alouettes (5-7) are scheduled to host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-9) on Friday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
