The Montreal Alouettes made a number of moves on Tuesday morning, signing American running back Jerry Howard Jr. and American defensive lineman Jabari Ellis. The team also released American return specialist Warren Newman and American linebacker Josh Harvey-Clemons.

Howard Jr. transferred from Georgia Tech to Towson University for the 2021 season and had a great year, starting 11 games and rushing for 895 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught 15 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown. He was named third-team All-CAA at running back and had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent.

Ellis played four seasons at the University of South Carolina and recorded 81 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two knockdowns, two fumble recoveries, and one touchdown. The six-foot-three, 278-pound defender served as a team captain while playing his super senior season in 2021.

Harvey-Clemons dressed for five games as a member of the Alouettes and recorded two special teams tackles. The former seventh-round NFL draft pick has made 41 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and four knockdowns over 35 career NFL games as a member of the Washington Commanders.
