B.C. Lions acquire kick returner Terry Williams in trade with Ottawa Redblacks

The B.C. Lions have acquired American receiver and return specialist Terry Williams in a trade with the Ottawa Redblacks in exchange for a third-round selection in the 2023 CFL Draft and a conditional pick in 2024.

“We’re excited to add Terry to our lineup ahead of a big stretch to close out the regular season,” said co-general manager and head coach Rick Campbell in a statement.

“He has shown to be a dynamic return specialist in this league and he is a welcome addition.”

The 26-year-old dressed recorded a CFL-leading 914 kickoff return yards over nine games with the Redblacks this season along with 306 yards on 32 punt returns. He also recorded 71 receiving yards and 26 rushing yards while contributing on offence.

The native of Greenwood, Miss. dressed for two games in 2021, his first in the CFL, and returned ten kickoffs for 169 yards and ten punts for 90 yards.

Williams transferred to Tennessee-Martin for his final two years of NCAA eligibility (2018-19) and made 125 receptions for 1,317 yards and six touchdowns in 23 games with the Skyhawks. He also returned 40 punts for 608 yards and two touchdowns.
