Manitoba Bisons’ offensive line goes viral on TikTok for turning pass sets into dance routine

Offensive linemen rarely find themselves in the spotlight but one group of big men from the University of Manitoba have kick-stepped their way to internet stardom.

Members of the school’s o-line launched an account on the popular social media app TikTok called “Things Fat Guys Do” in June 2020. That account, which shared a handful of comedic videos and trends intended for an audience familiar with the Bisons’ football program, remained largely dormant over the summer until the players decided to announce their return four days ago, just ahead of the start of the 2022 U Sports season.

In a 15-second video set to a sped-up version of Bruno Mars’ Treasure, nine offensive linemen showed off their pass sets in two perpendicular lines, crossing the screen perfectly in sync with the music.

The uniquely offensive line-specific dance trend has since captured the hearts of people on the app, which provides tailored content feeds to users based on an algorithm, clocking in with more than 4.6 million views at the time of this posting. The video has been liked more than 930,000 times, while more than 30,300 people now follow the account.

It is not immediately apparent who is behind the Bisons’ o-line account, though the first player in the video appears to be second-year Mark Rauhaus. Other members of the position group listed on the team’s 2022 roster include Joel Cardinal, Halem Hrizai, Tyshon Rosas, Alexander Walker, Keenan Karish, Matt Stokman, Ryder Klisowsky, Max Fisher, brothers Matteo and Giordano Vaccaro, Drew Boucher, and Cameron Boudewyn.

Manitoba is scheduled to open their season on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. local time against the University of Regina Rams.
