Giddy up: Calgary Stampeders unveil new black alternate uniforms

The Calgary Stampeders have unveiled new alternative uniforms ahead of the annual Labour Day Classic.

The black monochrome look features red and white stripes on the shoulders and pants as well as bold red numbers outlined in white. The city’s short-hand identifier of “CGY” is repeated several times on the shoulder and emblazoned in red over the name bar, while the helmet features a line of barbed wire in place of a stripe.

The team’s primary logo can also be seen on the chest and pants. Though not pictured here, the nameplate on the back of the jersey features simple white text over a black background.

The announcement marks the second time in as many years that the Stamps have rolled out a fresh uniform. The 75th-anniversary jerseys unveiled last year have since become the team’s primary home look.

Calgary is the third CFL team to sport an alternate uniform in 2022, following Winnipeg’s monochrome blue outfit and Hamilton’s grey ‘Steeltown’ duds.
