The Saskatchewan Roughriders have brought back American defensive back C.J. Reavis.

The six-foot, 198-pound cover man was in training camp with the team but was released as part of cutdown day in June.

Reavis was highly recruited out of high school and received offers from Tennessee, North Carolina, and Ohio State before settling on Virginia Tech. From there, he was forced to transfer to East Mississippi Community College where he was a featured player on the hit Netflix documentary Last Chance U.

The native of Chester, Va. later transferred to Marshall where he made 132 tackles, five tackles for loss, and one interception over 21 games.

Reavis went unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft but signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and made his NFL debut in December 2018, recording one tackle. He was cut by the Jags the following year and spent time on the practice roster with the Atlanta Falcons.

Saskatchewan also moved American linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. to the suspended list.

The Riders (5-5) are scheduled to visit the B.C. Lions (8-1) on Friday, Aug. 26 with kickoff slated for 10:30 p.m. EDT.
