Popular NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette to race World’s Fastest Cow when Stampeders host Lions

Popular hockey analyst Paul Bissonnette is trading in his skates for a pair of track shoes.

The 37-year-old will be at Saturday’s game between the B.C. Lions and Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium where he will race the World’s Fastest Cow. The World’s Fastest Cow runs a 110-yard sprint against competitors — usually fans — after the first quarter of each Stampeders’ game with opponents typically being given a headstart.

This won’t be the first time the blazing bovine takes on a former NHL player as it raced against Brian “Big Ern” McGrattan in 2016.

Paul Bissonnette played 202 NHL games as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Phoenix Coyotes, recording seven goals, 15 assists, and 340 penalty minutes. He retired from professional hockey in September 2017 to pursue a career in the media full-time and has become a popular figure on social media, boasting 1.2 million followers on Twitter and 459,000 followers on Instagram.

The Stampeders (5-2) are slated to host the Lions (6-1) on Saturday, Aug. 13 with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EDT.
