Alouettes’ QB Trevor Harris pulled for deciding play in loss to Hamilton by league concussion spotter

Montreal Alouettes’ quarterback Trevor Harris was unable to throw the game-deciding pass in his team’s loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday night after being pulled by the league’s concussion spotter.

Trailing 24-17, Harris had the Alouettes driving in the final minute and scrambled for a first down with a 17-yard run with eight seconds left. Hamilton safety Stavros Katsantonis laid a late hit at the end of the run which drew a 15-yard penalty to give Montreal excellent field position, but officials removed Harris from the game after he appeared to labour getting up after the play.

A visibly upset Harris was forced to watch from the sideline as backup Dominique Davis came in cold for the game’s final play, tossing an interception to Ticats’ strongside linebacker Kameron Kelly at the goal line.

Harris finished the game 25-of-41 passing for 288 yards and a touchdown. He was also his team’s leading rusher, with four carries for 39 yards.

This is the second time this season where a starting quarterback has been pulled by the CFL injury spotter with the game on the line. In Week 1, Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ backup Dru Brown came off the bench for the game-winning drive after reigning Most Outstanding Player Zach Collaros was flagged for a suspected head injury.
