The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian offensive lineman Jaylan Guthrie and American defensive back Malik Sonnier.
Guthrie has been added to the practice roster. The six-foot-five, 315-pound blocker was a fourth-round pick of the Calgary Stampeders in the 2019 CFL Draft our of the University of Guelph. He has dressed for two career CFL games and started one at guard as a member of the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021.
Sonnier has been place on the active roster after previously being released on June 27. He played in the club’s season-opening loss to the B.C. Lions and recorded three defensive tackles after starting at strong-side linebacker.
The Elks (1-4) are slated to visit the Montreal Alouettes (1-3) on Thursday evening.
