Atlanta Falcons cut former CFL defensive end James Vaughters

The Atlanta Falcons have released defensive end James Vaughters, according to Aaron Wilson.

The 28-year-old dressed for ten games with the Falcons last season and recorded eight total tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. He spent the previous two years with the Chicago Bears and made 25 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks over 17 games.

Vaughters played in 33 games over two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2017-18) and recorded 50 tackles, 11 sacks, and eight special teams tackles in 33 games with the Stamps. He won a Grey Cup with the team in 2018.

The Stanford product had brief stints with the Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, Calgary Stampeders, San Diego Chargers before dressing for his first CFL game.

The six-foot-two, 255-pound edge rusher is now a free agent and will turn 29 in June.
