Former CFL all-star linebacker Alex Singleton signs with Denver Broncos

Two-time CFL all-star linebacker Alex Singleton is signing with the Denver Broncos, according to the NFL Network’s James Palmer. The one-year deal is reportedly worth $1.1 million guaranteed with a further $750,000 available in playtime incentives.

The six-foot-two, 240-pound defender became a free agent when the Philadelphia Eagles elected not to tender him earlier this week.

Singleton made 130 total tackles, four tackles for loss, four knockdowns, one interception, and one touchdown over 16 games during the 2021 season. He led the NFL in tackles through five weeks of action and finished eleventh in the league at the end of the season. He also served as one of Philadelphia’s six team captains.

The 28-year-old has recorded 249 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, five knockdowns, two sacks, two interceptions, and two touchdowns over 42 career NFL games. He originally joined the Eagles in January 2019 and dressed for his first regular season game in October after being moved to the practice roster following training camp.

Singleton was a first-round pick of the Calgary Stampeders in the 2016 CFL Draft and developed into one of the best defensive players in the league over three years with the club (2016-18). He produced 123 tackles in his final two years in Canada, earning the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award in 2017.
