Riders sign Canadian DB Kosi Onyeka, American DL David Kenney

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed national defensive back Kosi Onyeka and American defensive lineman David Kenney.

Onyeka joins the Roughriders as an undrafted free agent. He played three collegiate seasons and 25 games with the Guelph Gryphons and recorded 64 defensive tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one interception, and three pass breakups.

The six-foot, 195-pounder also rushed the ball once for 12 yards and returned two punts. Onyeka’s best season came in 2021, making 33 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and two pass breakups.

The native of Brampton, Ont. is the cousin of Roughriders’ defensive back Godfrey Onyeka, Edmonton Elks’ linebacker Nakas Onyeka, and Ottawa Redblacks’ defensive end Kene Onyeka.

Kenney was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He played four preseason games and made two tackles before joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers later that year.

The six-foot-two, 250-pound native of Indiana played for the Indiana Hoosiers and Illinois State Redbirds.
