Former first-round pick, Canadian OL Darius Ciraco agrees to terms with Ottawa Redblacks

The Ottawa Redblacks have agreed to terms with Canadian offensive lineman Darius Ciraco, per sources.

The 25-year-old Ciraco moved to centre and started 12 games there for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the shortened 2021 season. He had started at right guard in all of his previous 34 career CFL regular season appearances after being selected by the Ticats in the first round, sixth overall during the 2018 CFL Draft.

The six-foot-four, 292-pound native of Burlington has also started seven playoff games at right guard and centre for the Tabbies, including the 107th and 108th Grey Cups.

Ciraco, who was named Hamilton’s Most Outstanding Rookie in 2018, played 28 regular season games for the University of Calgary from 2014 to 2017, suiting up at right guard, left tackle, and centre on the offensive line.

In 2015, Ciraco was named a Canada West All-Star and a U Sports second-team All-Canadian. He was also part of the Dinos teams that won the Mitchell Bowl in 2016 as well as the Hardy Cup in 2016 and 2017.
