Canadian offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell has been activated to the Indianapolis Colts’ active roster for their Christmas Day game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The 23-year-old signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and has remained on the practice roster ever since. The Colts finished the regular season 11-5 and lost to the Buffalo Bills in an AFC Wild Card playoff game last season and currently sit second in the AFC South with an 8-6 record.

O’Donnell was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian for his efforts in anchoring the University of Alberta Golden Bears’ offensive line in 2019. He helped the Green and Gold average 399 yards of total offence and 5.2 yards per rush. Scouts noticed his talent on film and it earned him an invite to the prestigious East-West Shrine Game.

The native of Red Deer, Alta. was a third-round pick of the Montreal Alouettes in the 2020 CFL Draft. He would have been a sure-fire first-round selection had he not received such high interest from the NFL.
