Former CFL DB Erik Harris suffers torn pectoral with Falcons

Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ defensive back Erik Harris is out for the rest of the NFL season with a torn pectoral muscle, as per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Harris started twelves games at safety for the Atlanta Falcons this year, recording 64 total tackles, eight knockdowns, three tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks. He joined the team as a free agent in March, signing a one-year contract worth $1.35 million USD.

The 31-year old was a starter with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 and 2020, making 135 total tackles, 13 knockdowns, three interceptions, two tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in 30 games.

Harris broke into the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013 and spent three seasons with the team before departing for the New Orleans Saints in 2016. He made 135 total tackles in the CFL along with four sacks, three interceptions, and three fumble recoveries.

He has earned just over $8.6 million USD since signing his first NFL contract.
