Bodog has updated their odds for the 2021 Grey Cup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers becoming even heavier favourites to defend their title.
If you’re a fan of the Edmonton Elks or Ottawa Redblacks, you’re out of luck as both teams have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
We’ve broken down the odds below along with some analysis for each potential pick. Don’t forget to place your bets here.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers -115
These odds imply that Winnipeg has a 53.5 percent chance of repeating as Grey Cup champions, which is staggeringly high. I think the Blue Bombers have a good chance to win it all, but I wouldn’t bet on them at this point considering you’d have to risk a lot of money to see a decent return.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats +550
Betting on the Ticats will be a lot more appealing if they’re able to knock off the Toronto Argonauts on Friday. A win over the Boatmen would move Hamilton into first place in the East Division and give them an opportunity to clinch the top spot with a win at home over Saskatchewan in Week 16.
Saskatchewan Roughriders +550
The Riders can clinch second place in the West Division with a win over the Elks this week, which shouldn’t be all that hard. Saskatchewan’s road to the Grey Cup goes through Winnipeg, but the Blue Bombers won the West Final in Regina last year. Who’s to say the Riders can’t return the favour in 2021?
Toronto Argonauts +600
The Boatmen barely squeezed by the Redblacks in Week 14, which should be concerning for bettors. Until McLeod Bethel-Thompson can stop turning the ball over — he’s thrown eight interceptions in his last three starts — I wouldn’t bet on the Argos making much noise in the post-season.
Calgary Stampeders +900
Bo Levi Mitchell isn’t used to being considered the underdog, yet here we are at nine-to-one odds to win the Grey Cup. Calgary could be a great play considering they’ve brought back 2019 CFL all-star Reggie Begelton, who should provide a much-needed spark to the club’s lacklustre air attack.
Montreal Alouettes +1100
This line feels a little juicy considering the Alouettes looked good in last week’s loss to Winnipeg. There are no moral victories in professional sports, but Montreal’s front-seven is finding ways to generate pressure and Trevor Harris looked pretty comfortable in his first start as a member of the Als.
B.C. Lions +2500
B.C.’s playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after dropping six consecutive games following a 4-2 start. They’ll need to finish the season with back-to-back wins over Calgary and Edmonton, then hope that the Stamps lose to Winnipeg in Week 16 if they’re going to earn a post-season berth.
