Saskatchewan QB Cody Fajardo loves food, uses words like ‘McNuggets’ instead of cursing

Roughriders quarterback Cody Fajardo enjoys all kinds of food and references to it.

During Saskatchewan’s 30-16 win in Week 7 over the Toronto Argonauts, Fajardo took a shot to the groin and described what happened afterwards.

“That one in the end zone, I got hit in the McNuggets and that was the worst hit of them all. You always gotta protect the McNuggets,” Fajardo said causing a round of laughter on the post-game videoconference.

Fajardo found a creative word to describe getting hit in the nether regions, but it makes sense because he likes to eat. That’s been proven by post-game corndogs in the Saskatchewan capital.

“I think I’m a fat kid at heart. I love anything related to food but it’s just part of me and my personality. I don’t like to curse too much so I think I go to some of those things. I’m a big food guy,” Fajardo said.

“Hopefully I can workout when football is all said and done because I think I’m one of those guys that might blow up. I gotta be able to continue to burn the calories when I’m long gone in the football career.”

Fajardo checked in at six-foot-two and 215 pounds for the 2021 CFL season, slimming down because he didn’t need the extra weight for being primarily a short yardage quarterback anymore. Father Tim constantly lets the Riders franchise man know about the family genes passed down to him.

“He’s a big… he tells me all the time, he’s always like: ‘You’re going to look like me someday.’ I’m like: ‘Dad, I’m not going to look like you.’ And he’s like:’ Oh yeah, it runs in the family,'” Fajardo said.

“He always gives me a hard time about that. That’s probably going to be my motivating factor. My dad’s a big guy and he’s solid, it’s not like he’s fat, he’s solid — big strong guy.”
