The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have placed quarterback Jeremiah Masoli on the one-game injured list.

Masoli missed day one of preparation for the Labour Day Classic match-up against the rival Toronto Argonauts due to a doctors appointment and did not take any first-team reps on the second or third day.

“It really stinks because he’s a great competitor and he can help our team win. Jeremiah is one of the best teammates I’ve ever been around. It’d be very easy for a guy who is banged up to just go on the one-game, take a week vacation and not worry about anything, but that is not what has happened,” Dane Evans said.

“He has been in every meeting, he’s helping with the game plan, he’s giving me ideas, he’s giving me tips because he’s played Toronto a lot more times than I have. He’s been nothing but helpful, he’s a great teammate and I guarantee you he’s all in on Labour Day.”

Masoli started the first two games of the Ticats season as Hamilton suffered losses against Winnipeg and Saskatchewan prior to a Week 3 bye. Evans started in Week 4 while Masoli has been listed with an injury to his ribs on the team’s official report.

“I’m so locked in right now. This is about Dane and David Watford leading us in. We’re focused on the players that are going to be out there on game day and the reasons we’ll keep in house,” head coach Orlondo Steinauer said.

During nearly seven quarters of football in 2021, Masoli has completed 62 percent of his passes for 377 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. The 33-year-old had been forced to deal with constant pressure in his face due to a new-look offensive line.
