Two more members of the Edmonton Elks have tested positive for COVID-19, according to TSN’s Dave Naylor.
Commissioner @RandyAmbrosie also told me during our sit-down that 2 more positive cases have emerged with the @elks, bringing the total to 11. More coming up on @SportsCentre #CFL #elks #TSN
The Elks had five members of the team test positive for the virus on Sunday, which resulted in the postponement of Thursday’s game against the Toronto Argonauts. Four more players tested positive on Monday, when it was revealed that the Elks are the third-lowest vaccinated team in the league.
Edmonton Elks’ president and CEO Chris Presson indicated on Monday that the team would provide a written update on their testing every two days, which means an update should be coming on Wednesday.
Two players on the Elks tested positive for COVID-19 several weeks ago, including offensive tackle SirVincent Rogers. There was no evidence of further spread on the team, which allowed the schedule to continue as normal.
Ratio-breaking defensive end Kwaku Boateng entered COVID protocol right before the team’s Week 3 victory over the B.C. Lions and did not travel with the team.
No other CFL teams have had players test positive for the virus since the start of the 2021 season.
