Toronto Argonauts release veteran DL Odell Willis

The Toronto Argonauts have released veteran American defensive lineman Odell Willis.

He signed a one-year contract with the double blue in February.

Willis is an 11-year CFL veteran and as durable as they come, playing in at least 16 games in 10 of his 11 seasons. The six-foot-two, 255-pound DL played the last two seasons in B.C. tallying 45 defensive tackles, 15 sacks and two forced fumbles in 36 games.

The 36-year old was in Edmonton from 2013 to 2017, where he became a Grey Cup champion in 2015 and a CFL All-Star in 2014 after posting 31 defensive tackles, 13 sacks , two interceptions, five forced fumbles and two touchdowns.

The Mississippi native spent 2012 with Saskatchewan after being traded to the prairies from Winnipeg where he played from 2009 to 2011, becoming a CFL All-Star for the first time in 2011 after a league-leading 13-sack campaign.

The West Georgia alum broke into the CFL with Calgary in 2009 but after nine games was traded to the Bombers. For his career, the veteran has racked up 263 defensive tackles, 101 sacks, 24 forced fumbles, three interceptions, and two touchdowns in 191 games.
