Blue Bombers sign American linebacker Kevin Brown

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American linebacker Kevin Brown.

The 27-year-old Brown was in training camp with the Edmonton Elks, but was released prior to final roster cuts. He is a three-year CFL veteran who has played in 42 games, all with the Ottawa Redblacks.

“He’s productive, he’s had a bunch of tackles, special teams tackles, interceptions, forced fumbles. He’s played the game, bringing in experience and shoring up a spot where we’ve got a couple injuries,” head coach Mike O’Shea said.

“It’s nice to bring in a guy who can stop on the field right away on special teams, if you need him too, and understands the systems and the game.”

The six-foot-one, 226-pound LB has accumulated 112 defensive tackles, 37 special teams tackles, three sacks, and two interceptions in his career. Brown’s most productive seasons (2018 and 2019) came under current EE Football Team defensive coordinator Noel Thorpe.

The Indianapolis, Indiana native played 34 games with the University of Cincinnati recording 50 tackles, seven passes defended, two tackles for loss, and one sack with the Bearcats.
