Franchise quarterback Cody Fajardo completed 28-of-35 passes (80 percent) for 230 yards with two touchdowns and one interception as the Riders beat the Lions 33-29. All-star calibre defensive back Nick Marshall helped out the offence by intercepting rookie Canadian QB Nathan Rourke and returning it 27 yards for a touchdown.

It was a sold out crowd at Mosaic Stadium of 33,000-plus and Roughrider supporters who weren’t in the building to witness the victory tuned in on TV sets and screens across the country.

The Riders drew the largest average audience of the week on television, which was a 46 percent increase compared to the team’s opener the last time the CFL played football. Being away from the field made the hearts grow fonder for Rider Nation and it showed with the TV and streaming totals.
