B.C. Lions mourn the loss of former special teams coordinator Chuck McMann

Former B.C. Lions’ special teams coordinator Chuck McMann has passed away at the age of 70.

The Lions posted the following message on Twitter.

The #BCLions are sad to learn of the passing of former long-time assistant coach Chuck McMann. Chuck was a member of the coaching staff for our 2011 Grey Cup championship. Thoughts are with his family.

McMann served as the special teams coordinator in B.C. from 2008 to 2015, winning a Grey Cup in 2011.

He previously served as the head coach at the University of Waterloo (1988-91) and McGill University (2001-06) with a long stint as an assistant with the Calgary Stampeders (1992-2000).

The Toronto native was a third-round pick of the Montreal Alouettes in 1976 and played ten seasons with the team, winning a Grey Cup in 1977. He is a member of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Hall of Fame.
