CFL all-star receiver Brad Sinopoli doing 24-hour Fish-a-thon in support of autism

Ottawa Redblacks receiver Brad Sinopoli will be gone fishing for an entire day to raise money for autism initiatives.

The two-time Grey Cup champion is excited to be doing a 24-hour Fish-a-thon in support of Ausome Ottawa, which is the only organization in his community dedicated to enriching the lives of families living with autism through sport and recreation. He wants to get more kids with autism off the sidelines and into the game.

All people should be physically active, but for kids with autism, it’s not that simple to get involved. Sometimes, community programs are not designed to meet a child’s needs. In other cases, a family cannot afford both the cost of therapy and program registration fees.

Together, Sinopoli wants Ausome to be able to reach more families, offer more programs throughout the year, train those who support athletes with autism and build children’s self-esteem and confidence in a safe, inclusive space.

The two-time Most Outstanding Canadian is raising important funds for Ausome Ottawa — the only organization in his community solely committed to providing accessible, barrier-free sport and recreation programs for children with autism.

Ausome is hard at work providing athletes with autism safe opportunities to be active in both in-person and online programs. Ausome is a 100 percent community-funded registered charity enriching lives of children with autism and their families through sport and recreation.
