It appears the CFL career of quarterback Logan Kilgore has come to an end.

The free agent has accepted a coaching position at Arkansas State, he announced on Twitter on Monday.

The 30-year-old’s contract with Edmonton expired last week and he went unsigned in the CFL’s free agent frenzy.

The Middle Tennessee State product broke into the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts in 2015 and appeared in 19 games with the team over two seasons. He threw for 728 yards, two touchdowns, and ten interceptions, also recording five carries for 23 yards.

Kilgore signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2017 but was released after appearing in six games. He remained out of the league until Edmonton came calling in 2019.

The California native started four games while Trevor Harris was out due to injury and the team’s regular season finale, notching a 2-3 record. He completed 114-of-174 pass attempts for 1,199 yards, six touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

His tenure with Edmonton is best remembered for a hit he received from Odell Willis which caused his tongue to bleed.

Kilgore will coach under Butch Jones, who was hired by the Red Wolves in December 2020. He served as an assistant at Alabama for the past three years after serving as the head coach with Central Michigan (2007-09), Cincinnati (2010-12), and Tennessee (2013-17).

It remains unclear what Kilgore’s coaching role at Arkansas State will be.
