Redblacks lock up draft pick Adam Auclair, brother of Super Bowl champion

The Ottawa Redblacks have closed out the first week of CFL free agency with a pair of signings, inking 2020 first-round draft pick and defensive back Adam Auclair and American linebacker Micah Awe to contracts on Friday.

Awe is a three-year Canadian Football League veteran with 35 games played with BC and Toronto. During his time in the CFL, the six-foot, 225-pound Texas Tech product has recorded 129 defensive tackles, 25 special teams tackles, one sack, one interception and two forced fumbles.

Awe played ten games for the Argonauts in 2019, registering 44 defensive tackles, six tackles on special teams, one sack and one interception.

Auclair played eight games in 2019 for l’Université Laval, while recording 41 tackles. The Quebec City native won the 2017 Presidents’ Trophy winner as U SPORTS Outstanding Defensive Player and was named on the 2017 U SPORTS All-Canadian.

Drafted sixth overall by Ottawa in 2020, Auclair joined the likes of Alex Fontana, Nolan MacMillan, Antoine Pruneau, Alex Mateas, Jason Lauzon-Seguin, Mark Korte and Evan Johnson as first-round draft selections of the Redblack.

Adam is the brother of NFL tight end Antony Auclair, who won Super Bowl 55 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
